I'm using Drupal now, what are you using?

The toughest part of writing a entry is to think of a title, honestly, had to make sure it doesn't sound boring or cliche. I can always go like, "Day 2 at CEIT" and hypnotise the audience. Alright, this is beside the point.

Arriving at CEIT

I've arrived safely in Brisbane from Singapore this morning. Reported at CEIT around the noon and settled the administrative stuffs before I went on a tour around the University of Queensland with Dr. Zornig. Coming from Singapore, a small country, being in UQ is so different and big. There's like this gigantic courtyard where students sit and lay around during their lunch break or free periods.  It's a rare sight in Singapore. Really really rare I guess. I'm going to poke my camera around the campus and update you fellow readers with some photos.

First Experiment to Determine the Power Available from a Tree

At 10:40, 5 electrodes were inserted into a gum tree and 3 electrodes in another tree. 67x3mm aluminum nails were used as electrodes and a 10mm aluminum ground rod was inserted 0.9m into the soil about 5m from the tree. The soil at the ground electrode had a PH slightly greater than 4.5.

Citing Style

I will be using the IEEE citing style for my final thesis. How To Cite References - IEEE Style.

Do I make an individual page for each reference? It would be great if drupal can find all of the places I point to this reference. - just like journal databases show a list of citations.

The numbers in the bibliography is the drupal node number. These will not be continuous or in order of appearance as is required by the IEEE style but will make linking much much easier.

Welcome to my first blog entry

This is a test entry to figure out the difference between a drupal blog and a drupal book page.

Social Networks: Friends vs Groups

In the rush to solve every problem with the latest buzz word (social networks), issues arise in the complexity of establishment and irregular connectedness of friend based networks.

The root cause is that a friends based network is built on one-to-one relationships, each managed jointly by the two nodes that are connected. This makes it very difficult to establish one to many, many to one and many to many functions.
